30 October 2025: Second on-line meeting of the project

This second online meeting of the project brought together eight team members who discussed the preparation of the international conference and the interview guide. Proposals were made for the main directions of the conference and concrete steps were outlined for the coming months to ensure the smooth running and optimal results of the international conference, „Communism for Young People. Passing on the Recent Past in Central and Eastern Europe”.

There was a wide-ranging discussion about the interview guide, which is to be finalized in the coming months, but especially about the first exploratory interviews that will take place in November in Bucharest, Cluj, and Cahul.



Project meeting February 10, 2026

On February 10, 2026, the project members held their first online meeting of the year. During the session, they discussed the conference scheduled for May 28-29, 2026, in Bucharest, the forthcoming collective volume provisionally titled Framing the Communist Past: Cultures of Remembrance and Generational Memory in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the interview guide and plans for conducting future interviews.


Project meeting March 11, 2026

On 11 March 2026, the second online project meeting was held, focusing on the preparation of the international conference scheduled for 28-29 May 2026 and the publication of the project's edited volume.

During the meeting, the project team discussed both the organizational aspects of the upcoming conference and, in particular, the proposals submitted for inclusion in the collective volume. Special attention was given to the thematic coherence of the contributions, the structure of the publication, and the selection of papers that best reflected the project's objectives.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to coordinate the final stages of conference planning and to advance the editorial work on the volume, which aims to bring together innovative research on the transmission of memories of communism and the recent past in Central and Eastern Europe.


Project meeting April 1, 2026

On 1 April 2026, the third online project meeting was held, focusing on the preparations for the international conference scheduled for 28-29 May 2026 and the publication of the project's edited volume.

During the meeting, the project team reviewed and discussed the proposals submitted for the May conference, as well as the chapter proposals received for the collective volume. Particular attention was devoted to assessing the thematic relevance and scholarly contribution of the submissions, ensuring their alignment with the project's objectives and research agenda. The meeting also provided an opportunity to further coordinate the conference program and advance the editorial planning of the volume, which will showcase new research on the memory and transmission of the communist past in Central and Eastern Europe.


Project meeting June 11, 2026

On 11 June 2026, an online meeting of the project members was held to discuss the outcomes of the recently concluded international conference, “Communism for Young People: Passing on the Recent Past in Central and Eastern Europe,” as well as the collective volume currently in preparation. The discussion highlighted both the high quality and the diversity of the presentations delivered during the conference, emphasizing their significance for the further development of the project. It was also decided that a number of conference participants would be invited to contribute chapters to the forthcoming edited volume.
